Is it true that all human beings came from Africa?
Yes. Africa was the home of all human beings. Science shows us that we all came from Africa. Researchers have used tests like radiocarbon dating and DNA to prove it. Radiocarbon dating and DNA are scientific methods used to find out how old things are and how they came to be. According to these tests, all human beings come from the same ancestors.
An ancestor is an old relative who lived a long time ago. Scientists who discovered that we are all descended from the same ancestors named the oldest ancestors Australopithecines or “Ape men”. Ape men could walk like apes. After Ape men came the “Homo Habilis” who were our next ancestors. Homo Habilis are also called “Tool Makers” because they made simple tools like knives. They used things like pebbles to make their tools.
Our next ancestors after Homo Habilis were Homo Erectus who looked more like us. They are called Homo Erectus because they walked upright. They also had brains that helped them to develop more complex tools like axes. They were taller than Ape Men and Tool Makers. Homo Erectus used tree branches to build their houses.
They lived in groups or communities which they set up around rivers or other sources of water. Scientists have found their bones in different places like the Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania.
Where Did Human Life Begin?
Some Scientists believe that the ancestors who left Africa and moved to most of the other continents of the world were Homo Erectus. Other scientists think that it was another more modern species of human beings called Homo Sapiens who first migrated out of Africa to other continents. Migration is when people move from one place to another. It does not matter whether some scientists believe that it was Homo Erectus who first moved out of Africa while others believe that it was Homo Sapiens who first migrated from Africa. The important thing to remember is that Africa is where human life first began. Scientists agree that most genetic variations are found in Africa. This also proves that all human life started in Africa. Genetic variations are things like skin color, hair type and other things that make us look different.
This means that all human beings are members of one big family. All of us came from Africa. That makes us one race. This is why people should never be judged by the colour of their skin, hair, eyes or other kinds of difference.
Scientists have also found out that humans lived in Africa for a long time before they migrated to other continents. It was in Africa that human beings started to farm, keep domestic animals and form communities.

It is from Africa! The first humans came from Africa. They are the humans who were the first to make tools. They were also the first to move out of trees and walk as we do now, on two feet. These people from Africa were also the first to explore and cross the seas to reach Asia and Europe.

There have found artefacts, which are old objects, from an earlier time known as the Stone Age to prove it. These archaeologists have found pebble tools used by people from the past in places like the Sudan and Egypt. The people who used the tools came from the Rift Valley of Eastern Africa, also called the ‘Cradle of humankind.”
